Leesa StoneLEESA STONE received her Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Missouri at Columbia and began her broadcasting career in radio. After serving as News Director at KKON on the Big Island of Hawaii and at KPOI/KDUK in Honolulu, she moved to Honolulu's all news radio station, KHVH, as an anchor/reporter.
In 1985, Leesa went to work at Honolulu's ABC affiliate, KITV. During her five years at KITV, Leesa was featured in a problem solving segment, Working 4 You, which research identified as the most popular feature in the market. She coordinated a small staff to solve viewers' problems as well as reporting and producing two pieces weekly. Efforts on behalf of the disabled, such as helping a blind woman who had experienced housing discrimination because of her guide dog, earned Leesa and KITV special recognition from the state of Hawaii.
Leesa was also a morning and midday anchor at KITV -- experience which helped her land a position as an anchor at CNN Headline News in 1990. After freelancing at CNN and WSB, the ABC affiliate in Atlanta for a year and a half, Leesa accepted a job in Nashville at the CBS affiliate, WTVF.
During her three years at WTVF, Leesa had a Money Report franchise which she introduced on set, did general assignment reporting and was a fill-in anchor. In December, 1994 Leesa left the world of news to become Publicity Director at contemporary Christian music label, Reunion Records. The impending birth of a baby and her love of television convinced Leesa to start her own business as a freelance producer/talent.
Leesa's work has earned her one Emmy Award for Entertainment Program, one Emmy nomination for Public Affairs and four Telly Awards. Nashville's Crisis Intervention Center also gave Stone Productions a Community Support Award for producing its informational/fundraising video.
