Stone Productions ended the year on a tasty note, as Rich and Leesa trekked twice to Memphis to shoot at two great restaurants for the Travel Channel show,
"World's Best/Top 10 Ten Lists." The first stop was Huey's, a Memphis institution where you can eat a thick, delicious hamburger and shoot toothpicks into the ceiling.
We taped another segment at Jim Neely's Interstate Barbeque, where the ribs are so tender the meat falls off the bone. No dates have been set yet for the telecasts of these stories.
Rich has been shooting a documentary for NBC's program, "Dateline" as the show follows a legendary women's high school basketball program in Shelbyville, Tennessee. The Eaglettes have consistently been one of the best women's basketball teams in the nation. Rich has been working with Dateline producers shooting not only the games but the personal stories of many of the players off court. Dateline will devote its entire program to the documentary. NBC is expected to announce an air date for sometime this summer.
Rich has also been busy shooting again for Sage Productions' CMT series, "Ultimate Home." The show features celebrities and designers redecorating a house that will be given away at the end of the season to a lucky fan.
Rich has shot twice for the History Channel program, "Guts and Bolts." He also taped an interview with the late Sheriff Buford Pusser's daughter for a DVD which is a promotional piece for the theatrical release of the new "Walking Tall" film, starring The Rock.
A Vanderbilt professor who had a rock climbing wall built inside his house was the focus of a segment for "Dream Builders" telecast on HGTV. The 35 foot high wall was a great opportunity to use our new mini-jib as Professor David Cole demonstrated this unusual feature of his home.
It took one year to shoot another "Dream Builders" segment on the construction of a steel framed house in Nashville. Rich shot some of the framing in December 2002 and then in December of 2003, we shot the final phases and interviews. Leesa field produced and wrote both the Rock Climbing and the Steel House segments.
When ABC's World News Tonight examined a new interest in religion among teenagers, Leesa interviewed teens who are reading a new magazine-style bible published by Thomas Nelson and interviewed members of the Contemporary Christian group, Point of Grace for the segment. Leesa also helped produce a WNT story on a disabled woman whose case challenging the accessibility of Tennessee courthouses has gone all the way to the Supreme Court.
Stone Productions produced a video for the Frist Foundation's "Making a Difference Award" for First Steps, one of the non-profits nominated for the award. Rich and Leesa shot b-roll at the school for children with special needs, interviewed parents, then developed the script and edited it. First Steps won the award and Executive Director, Leah Smith said, "There wasn't a dry eye in the room of over one thousand people who watched the video."
And finally, Stone Productions coordinated the production team as Bridgestone Americas Director of Media Relations Dan MacDonald oversaw a world-wide live webcast to the company's 50 thousand employees when John Lampe, the CEO, Chairman and President of Bridgestone Americas Holding, Inc. announced his retirement. We also taped John's last employee video before he headed off to the golf course. We certainly have enjoyed every project with John and wish him a happy retirement. We also look forward to working with his successor, Mark Emkes.
